Mutiny Mist Cavaliers

We raise Cavalier King Charles Spaniels for health, conformation and temperament in the comfort and safety of our family home. An exquisite breed, Cavaliers are sturdy, friendly and endearing— the ideal toy dogs companion. They exemplify the wonders of the human-animal bond.

We are Mutiny Mist Cavaliers, the home of Dr. William and Patricia Church in the vibrant Pacific Northwest.

We were first introduced to Cavaliers in 1996—our charming Audrey epitomized the Cavalier joy de vivre. Audrey’s outstanding temperament was matched by her conformation: she earned an AKC championship with two five-point majors. She had two litters, and produced equally charming puppies. At age 10, Audrey went back into the show ring and was the 2004 National Best Veteran under the ACKCSC (American Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Club, the AKC national club) and 2004 Best Veteran under COPS (Cavaliers of Puget Sound, the Northwest regional AKC Cavalier club). Both wins were under internationally noted Cavalier breed judges. Our beloved Audrey developed mitral valve disease (MVD), but lived to be 12-1/2.

We are a concerned breeder and Cavalier family. We believe in working with a good veterinarian who combines the best in allopathic and holistic veterinary care and who limits vaccinations. We believe in health testing with well-known, engaged specialists. We believe that selective breeding to the highest standards of health and temperament is vital to the optimal health of this remarkable breed.

At Mutiny Mist, we know that Cavaliers can be healthy, win in the show ring, and be adored and adoring companions. Before CHIC (Canine Health Information Center), we tested for eyes, hips, and hearts. Now all Mutiny Mist breeding Cavaliers are CHIC listed (eyes, hearts, hips, and patellas/knees) and MRI'd for syringomyelia (SM). We follow the recommended breeding protocols for mitral valve disease (MVD) and SM. We appreciate Dr. Jean Dodds’ vaccine protocols and support the Rabies Challenge Fund. Benefactors of the ACKCSC Health Foundation, we are members of ACKCSC and CKCSC (Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Club), and our Cavaliers are registered with both organizations.
